We know of the Scythians thanks to Greek historians – Herodotus and Lucians. However the most precious evidence of their existence and culture has so far been Scythian kurgans and their contents excavated. Throughout the vast territory where one can find Scythian kurgans – from Danube, the Black Sea region and Caucasus up to Central Asia, Altai and Far East – there in ancient times stretched the greatest of ever existent civilizations on Earth. No any empire could compare with it in either dimensions or the magnificence of spiritual culture. The Scythians were the first to unite Eurasia into one spiritual space imposing tremendous influence upon the further development of humanity.
Kurgans served for the Scythians to set off to the postmortem path of eternity their elders and heroes honored as their true leaders, who would stay in contact with unknown powers descending from heavens, cosmos and the entire universe, leading society forward along the righteous path of development.
It took numerous centuries for the Skythians and the Sakas to settle out throughout the territories of Central Asia and Northern India, as they migrated eastwards. And there, in Northern India, more than 25 centuries back, there appeared the Buddha, Shakyamuni by name, which means a great sage from the Saka clan. In India, the tradition of erecting kourgans transformed into the construction of hemispherically shaped sepulcres adorned with a pinnacle, which came to be named as stupas.
The Buddha instructed His disciples to cremate His body after His entering the Parinirvana, and enshrine in such stupas what would remain unburnt. For over 25 centuries eversince, the Relics of the Buddha called Sharira have been disseminating throughout the planet as a great message of Peace and Tranquility, Integrity and Harmony for the entire humankind.
Indian king Ashoka-the-Great (III B.C.E.) was the first ruler to disseminate the Great Wisdom of Unity and Peace, as he widely erected stupas with the Relics of the Buddha enshrined in them. He renounced bloody conquests and converted to the path of non-violence. Ashoka combined the profundity of the meaning of a Stupa with the achievements of Greek and Persian civilisations. In that way, for the first time in history not by the power of force but by the power of wisdom, he created a universal model of global civilisation of Peace.
Ashoka's erected stupas remain till nowadays in the territories of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and China, reminding us of the forgotten great spiritual culture of the past. Also, Ashoka used to forward to other countries his messengers carrying out special mission of peace. Historical facts say that his messengers reached Egypt, Greece and Macedonia, sowing the seeds of wisdom and spiritual unity elsewhere.
As another two centuries passed, that wisdom led Eurasia of the times of Koushan Empire to enter its Golden Era. That was the acme of the spiritual culture of humanity, when various civilisations would come together in one state structure and attain to the highest level of prosperity in their synergy. Greek and Roman, Persian, Vedic and Ancient civilisations of India, nomadic civilisation of Eurasia - came together and created a genuine culture of true harmony and peace!
